Hopefully the pictures are clear enough to judge as I'm not sure if this is Post Strike Damage or a bad strike due to crud in the die.

Thoughts?

Looks to have been struck through grease. Not a Memorial cent, of course.

Ah, yes! Lincoln Wheat cent. And thanks for reminding me the proper term is grease in die versus crud in die.

Wartime cents are notorious for having junk/crud/grease build up on the dies that prevented good strikes. It was most prominently seen in the date and mintmark areas.

Common struck through grease. Check eBay for examples.
