Didn't know if there would be any interest like there is in coin roll searches. But here is a list of coins from a recent world lot that I purchased. Lot had both US & World coins in it. Have about 9 coins I've yet to identify. What do you mostly find in your world lots from ebay or other auction sites?

A lot of Germany. Although the aluminum coins are a fraction of the lots, the Bundesrepublik junk makes up 25-35% of all coins in lots here. And try to find someone who collects it..

There usually is about 5-10% of these as well:
- US cents
- Czechoslovakia
- Czech Republic and Slovakia (as separate states)
- Hungary
- Italy (mostly L.10, L.50 and L.100)
- France (those are impossible to sell as well)

In ~1000 coins I have recently received:
- 0 Mexico or other Central America.
- 5 South American.
- 3 Israeli.
- 2 Arabic.
- 4 Japanese.
- 0 Australia or New Zealand.
- 0 South-East Asian.
- 3 African.
Damaged coins excluded.

Totally not worth buying, unless - like me - you're starting a world set

Well I'm addicted to world coins. Guess it's from being a army brat all my life. I have every South and Central American country already in coin with a number of paper currency also. It's the Asia / Pacific Rim, Africa, and older replublic states of the USSR that I have trouble finding. Most lots I get from ebay have a ton of old GB pennies and half-pennies. I have a whole roll of them now in a plastic tube. I just ordered a 22lb bag. Will list the results in the manner you did next time. That way I'm not spamming the boards.

I had a world coin obsession for a while too.... ended up with a tonne of coins I can't identify and also can't get rid of because I don't know what they are worth to sell. lol

I have no Asian coin problems, as I think I have quite a lot though I can't read anything on them.
I am trying to stick to the basics from now on, canada, usa, britain basically.

1989 Brazil 50 centavos
1979 Kiribati 5 cents
1988 New Zealand Cent
1953 Bulgaria 3 Stotinki

I'm impressed by the amount of high denomination coins in your lot. Plenty of dollars, a few Euros, even a silver coin. Pretty good!

I judge bulk lots by the lack of Canadian and Mexican coins included. Coins from PRC are also so abundant that I started putting them in rolls.

Let us know how the 10 kilo bag works out!

As one might expect, the source of the coins will to a large extent determine the composition. A batch from Oregon will probably be mainly Canadian, a batch from Texas mainly Mexican, from Florida mainly Caribbean, from Poland mainly German.

Here in Australia, they're mainly from the Pacific - notably New Zealand, but also Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and the French territories. Southeast Asia is also common: Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, etc.. Finally, there are the British, Japanese and American coins - further away, but lots of people going to and from there bring coins with them.

I bought a 15 pound bag of world coins from a dealer at the show in Sprinigfield, Mo this past weekend. The bag was tagged as "unsearched" and I believe that it was, indeed, just that. I got the usual annoying Brit new pence, Canadian and Mexican that turns up, along with French, Italian and Spanish. I also got a surprising amount of SW Pacific and Carribean Islands, and a remarkable amount of Indian rupees, including the crappy Stainless Steel 1 rupees (one look and you know why very few places use Stainless for coinage, as the strikes are uniformly weak). I also got random Aussie/NZ, Asian/pacific rim countries, a few African countries, some Eastern Europe, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and some Central and South American. The oldest was an 1876 German 5 pfennig (one of two pre 1900 coins I got) and the latest a 2008 Canadian Nickel. Very little German, Austrian, or Russian in this lot. Conditions ranged from BU to beat up and well worn. Dates seemed to concentrate in the mid-1960s to the mid-90s. Not a single US coin, either.

I understand that all US currency are taken out of the foreign coin lots as their value is readily identified and redeemed. That's what my dealer in Oz told me.

My observation is the date spread of your lot is more recent than bulk world I see at dealers--I wonder if this signifies a trend? The other day, a dealer gave me a bulk lot to sort through and buy what I want--perhaps it's not a typical sample at all?
They included:

Australia 1/2d and 1d, 50s-60s (I found a 1956 doubled die in here)
1927 Palestine 2 Mils
Philippine Centavos, 1904-1930s
Vatican 10 Lire, 1951
Austro-Hungarian 1 and 2 Heller assortment, 1890s - 1910s
1/360 Thaler/ 1 Pfennig 1866 (Need to identify further)
Mexico Centavo 1896
France, Cinq Centimes 1855, 1856
Mexico centavos group 1900s-40s
Indonesia 10 Sen, 1951
UK Farthings and 1/2 Farthings, Victorian, Edward, George V.
Italy, 5c 1926
Finland 5 Pennia 1896
Sweden 1 ore, 1955
China republic, 10 cash, probably from the 20s.
Belgium Leopold II coins.
Lombardi-Veneto 1 Soldo, 1862
France 50c 1940
India 2 Annas, 1943
India Pice, 1954
Canada 5c 1961
HK 50c, 1951
Nederland 20c 1950

Some of these are older than normal, but I look through a lot of this.
