I'm sorry what. I got these results in and I'm absolutely floored. I had put this up on the grading forum and everyone agreed it was a nice slider Unc. It came back AU Details Cleaned. Why? Where do they see a cleaning? There are ZERO hairlines in hand and pristine natural surfaces, it has attractive satiny luster there is no way this is cleaned. Am I missing something here? Did they think the blue halo toning was evident of a cleaning? I know we halos to tell if a coin has been altered, but I can tell you there is no break or discrepancy in the luster in those areas. This is going to get cracked, soon.

I think I get it..remember how silver oxidizes and the first colors/hues of silver oxidation (yellows/greens) of the color spectrum, if the beginning of the toning is not removed from the entire coin what is left will advance up the scale with out the lower levels being visible...still new to this but that's my thoughts.....others?.....

I read somewhere that TPG's have a device that "sniffs" to determine a cleaning...no I am not kidding.

Look at the toning lines from 11 to 5 on the obverse.
That could be the indicator.

I think it's a really nice coin, but maybe the halos around the stars pushed them to details the coin. I still think it's an attractive coin

That was my initial thought. This was cracked from a Gen 2 ANACS holder as an AU55 straight though. And they were pretty tough on cleanings at that period.

Hadn't thought of that. Though once it's back I'll throw some pics up. But does that always indicate a cleaning? My point is I've seen way worse, harshly cleaned Seated dollars in MS63 holders, so there is a bit of market acceptance at play. I feel this would be MA.

How so? Please elaborate? Most trueviews have this matte loom to them.

Cleaned doesn't only mean scrubbed.
Dipping is cleaning.
Wiping with a cloth is cleaning.

In this case those lines could be an indication of wiping with a cloth dipped in some sort of silver cleaning liquid.

A beautiful example of this coin.
It looks to me from the picture provided that it has only been cleaned on the Obverse, although probably very lightly ages ago. For me it's the stars and the date, it looks as if whomever wiped it couldn't get into the nooks and crannies.

Bigger question. Is it market acceptable?

Better than market acceptable... I'd say market desirable.

Me too. But I guess the left obverse field looks like it might have been cleaned long ago.

Try this at NGC, if the luster is there, you might even get a star to be honest.

That's the new plan. I had some nicer stuff that was going to go to PCGS, but it doesn't really matter so I'll send that stuff plus this to NGC friday.
