got this and it says 1964-d dbl. date ,but looks like dd to me, any help .all input welcome. does have a sm. die chip .good luck and happy hunting

My first thought was DDD=die deterioration doubling or VLDS=very late die state.

Surface looks very "pity" (unlike the die flow lines from a VLDS) maybe cleaned some time ago.... PMD

coop you say altered some , how ? here are some close ups .the A has thick rt. side ,top of R has curve,top of T ,rt. top of D ,O in of ,and the D mint mark,how can this be done ? thanks and happy hunting

Looks like that coin had an acid bath from the pitting I see.

acid bath may caused the pitting but how would it change the letters ? how is the W a blob , but the E not ?or like in liberty there is a B , but look at the E , or like the date the 1 is fine ,but the bottom of the 9 is thicker , how can acid bath do that ?

I considered acid,but leaned the other way because the rim didn't look typical of acid.cookiemonster,are those metal tweezers? I hope not.
