Just classic Machine Doubling. This is caused by the machine. It is not a doubled die, as a doubled die has the doubling on the die. This is altered by the machine right after the strike. Machine Doubling can also happen on a doubled die, because the machine alters the devices on the doubled die. Note on these images, the Machine Doubling altered these DDO coins all from the same die:
Note all 4 images are doubled dies, but the yellow arrows shows where the MD happened on these date areas. Note the areas affected by the MD reduces the size of the doubled die on just those areas.
Thanks for the very informative replies. I still am not very familiar with this posting business. Appreciating all the help with educating me on coins. Mainly I do penny rolls and look for overlays, DDO, DDR and just to fill my Harris penny slots with the best I can find.
