Top of the Dsy!

So I recently purchased a 2008 silver eagle that was in a slab from NCG and marked as Gem Uncirculated. After looking at the reverse side, the design has all of the known signs of the 2007 design (the "bowl-shaped" U in United, the separation of the stars, & the dash design all match 2007) but does not carry the W mint mark. Everything I've seen online shows the W mint mark. Is this possible? I did check the NCG registry and the coin checks out as genuine. Could this have happened at another mint? Anyone seen anything like this?

Thank You for the Help!

You mean this one? They all show the 'W' mintmarks on the ones on PCGS:

Can you share photos of your coin? Would you mind letting us know the certification number?

I'm not well versed in silver Eagles but I believe what you have is a regular strike (bullion) 2008 silver eagle and the 2008 with reverse of 2007 is a burnished silver eagle with a W mintmark.

Interesting!

Any experts know of a Philadelphia struck 2008 ASE with a 2007 reverse? I can only find info on the West Point coins.

Yokozuna, I can't find any info on the Philadelphia ones. Only the West Point ones.

Your coin COULD be a great new find!

To the best of my knowledge, NOT ONE 2008 ASE reverse of 2007 has ever been found on a *NON-WEST POINT *W* MINT MARK Business Strike 2008 ASE.

FYI : *ALL 2008 American Silver Eagles were struck only at the WEST POINT MINT*

Could you please post a pic of your coin with the Reverse reflected in a mirror, like you would take a picture of a rotated die coin?

I would like to see a picture of both the Obverse and Reverse of your coin as one picture, not a separate Obverse and Reverse.

Thanks!
