Found this today while searching through some new halves. Is this considered an cracked planchett? It goes all the way from the top of the coin through the eagle to the bottom of the coin. And it was also struck through something. I thought it was a nice find

Might be a lamination?

Looks like a small piece of tape stuck to the surface.

Jeff75645,
Your pics look like screenshots, are they? Hard to make out what is truly there using that method.

A clear, focused, shot of the entire coin( both, obverse and reverse) is needed. Your screen shots are too distorted to draw any conclusion, it maybe a Lam and or it maybe residue of a foreign substance as mentioned

So depending on the grade of the coin does it add or take away value with the lamination error?

Grade is irrelevant is it's AU. It may bring a few bucks in premium, but don't expect to retire.

I'm in the lamination column. I've seen many 64 Kennedy's. A lamination on one of these is not common. Could we see the entire coin Obv and Rev please.
