Machine Doubling. On incuse design elements, MD presents the way die doubling does on raised features.

On a survey of 100 ATB Quarters, 70% showed either minor or large MD on them. They are raised on the die and the slightest movement makes them enlarged. (Machine doubled) On a true doubled die of incuse devices, the devices are reduced in size:




When the normal incuse devices have movement, the Machine Doubling enlarges the devices:
