FG initials are basically all over the reverse of the coin, on the stairs, left and right side, rim, fields, between letters... is this a common error seen on a penny before?

@big, are you sure those aren't circulation scratches plus Pareidolia?

Ok yes that pic is really great, but I just don't see any FG letters—just lots of small scratches, two vertical larger scratches, and a black patch of crud. Can you maybe use a drawing program like ms paint to add a circle of them on this pic?

You are seeing imaginary shapes, like animals in puffy clouds.

Ok lets just all agree that I am imagining FG shapes elsewhere on the coin.

Now on the other side, or hypothetically speaking, if there were actually additional FG initals elsewhere on the coin (like the one shown in the picture), and there were truly in fact the exact same FG initials ( which is do not have pictured), what would this be an example of...machine doubling? Just curious...

No. Because the intials are in the hub. In order to get the initials all over the die the die would have had to have hubbed multiple times with the die in a different position each time. And that would also duplicate the memorial and all the other lettering multiple times too.

Can you please show us the whole coin, both sides, plus close-ups where you see these dozens of other similar shapes?

I'm not seeing FGs. Additional, high resolution photos may help.

What Conder said. Only way it could be as you describe is if it were a severe doubled die, and other things would be doubled as well if that were the case.
