Hi Everyone. Yesterday I found this 1993 Lincoln penny while coin hunting. I'm not really sure what I have here. Is this a double die? Machine Doubling?

Looks like the copper plating has stretched and given way so that you can see the underlying zinc core. That is split plate doubling.

Also, welcome to CCF!

Very nice example of split plating--2x2 worthy in my opinion.

Thank you for the welcome. Does anyone else see doubling in the "G" in God, the "S" and "T" in states, and the "O" in one?

to the CCF!

Sorry, no added value for Split Plate Doubling. Now that the zinc is exposed, the coin may start to corrode if the coin is exposed to the elements. The Zlincolns are prone to this form of "Coin Leprosy."

Split plating doubling does not carry a premium, but as @ijn points out you could still save it as an exemplar.

to CCF. No added value, but well worth a 2x2 holder.

If it's not here for LHCs, You would probably be better off spending your time on something else unless you are pretty sure you've got a new find.

There is one caveat before totally relying upon Coppercoins findings. Become your own expert by totally understanding the fundamentals of double die confirmations.

You cannot get any better at perfecting your own skills unless you can add something new to coop's hard work:
