I was just hunting nickels the other day and had found a 1972-D ODV-023 Jefferson nickel that I wanted to check for RDV-007, but I had been confused about what the difference was between RDVs 006 and 007. Fortunately, Jim0815 posted this http://goccf.com/t/383382 thread, in which he and Tanman explained the difference to me in the comments. I went back and checked the nickel I had set aside from that hunt, and, if I'm not mistaken, it's RDV-007. Interested to hear what people think since I'm far from knowledgeable about Jeffersons, and this is a variety I only recently learned to identify.

I have never heard of this variety before today and I have now seen two alleged examples on the same day.

With the little recognition, I doubt many have looked for this variety. So they may be more common than the blue highlight on VV would have you believe.

Maybe this could be another 1970 10c Reverse of '68. Once it got listed in the CPG and people started looking for it, it was found not to be that rare at all.

It would be a fun project to try to determine the rarity of this reverse design variety. Check every 1972 nickel you come across and keep a tally of the variety!

Yeah, I'm wondering the same. The last time I had this happen to me where the first coin I checked after learning about a variety had the variety in question was with a 1970 reverse of 68 dime, so this definitely has me thinking it could be the same sort of thing.

Hmm, sounds like probably not so rare then... Maybe we should inform Mr. Wiles that his variety is kinda everywhere lol

Edit: Or were the Phillies collected over a long period of time? Couldn't tell from your comment if you found all four coins in the same hunt.

So it is the vertical line on 007 is strong and compleat?
If so,I looked on the bay yesterday and found several for sale. I am still a bit confused what to look for between 006 and 007.

@John1 takes look at the thread I posted yesterday about the same coin as Sam posted after my post. There is a pretty good description by myself and tanman as to the differences between the two reverse differences.

John1, on the 007 there is a thin raised vertical line on the right side as indicated in this photo by tanman.
