Hey, I'm having trouble identifying this 83-D Double Ear type thing. It seems like I'm seeing faint markers from FS-101,2, and 3.

But I'm hoping someone can tell me just based on the Ear Lobe. I'm eager for info. Thanks guys.

Please remove coin from 2x2 holder and take pics.

John, without destroying another innocent 2x2, let's see we can figure out.

That particular ear die break thing on 102 is much larger than mine. Do you think mine is the same defect in an earlier stage? If so, is it still the same catalog number?

Going by the pics above,I do not think your coin is a DDO.But you should check the sites to be sure it isn't another DDO even though I see no DDO.

Yeah, none of the 83 D's really seem like DDOs. I just always look for the Ear thing. It seems like I remember seeing this ear thing somewhere, but now I can't find it. Hopefully someone else can drop a k-bomb (knowledge bomb, just made that up now. Been staring at coins way too long) on us.

Your coin is showing die polishing that actually reduces the devices even smaller. Not seeing a DDO on this one?
Here is what a DDO would look like for this year:
