This is the second one I find with is cardboard sleeve. I got few strips of 1968 and 1969. Did they are promotional products when they started nickel dollar? What is the story behind this nickel strips? Anybody know if all the strip came with a cardboard strip when they issued them?

Thanks!

I have seen these before at LCS. I believe that the mint issued them. There is a story behind them, but unfortunately I have forgotten. Sorry for the non-answer, but I just wanted you to know that somebody should be able to give you one, if you wait a bit.

These were sold by the numismatic section of the Royal Canadian Mint
in both 1968 and 1969 . As I remember they were sold for a $1.25 each coin.
Strips of 5 like your pix are the way they were shipped.
Quality of the 1969 coins are superior to those of 1968
1968 coins should be checked for varieties .

The 1969 coins are PL strikes. You see both business and PL strikes in the 1968s. Tons out there, I usually am able to grab those at or close to face value.
