I'm down to the typical last 5 holes in my 7099. For the 1799 slot, the 1799/8 is considerably cheaper that the non over date. If I put a 1799/8 in that slot, is this cheating. Looking for opinions...

IMO - I would say no. I think you're good to go. After all 1799 was the mint year. Good luck

For what it's worth, I agree that it's not cheating since I believe the place does not indicate no variants/errors allowed. Yes, pics please!

Sorry if I misled you guys into thinking I own a 1799/8. I don't yet. I haven't found the one in my sweet spot. My sweet spot is narrow and will likely be a details coin. I hate that that will likely be the case because the rest are problem free in my eyes.

At thousands of dollars for either 1799, I'd be putting a dateless type coin in the slot -
