I contacted him to see how many different types of coins he had available and of what dates and well I was a little surprised at just how many different ones he has copies of. He sent me two links both with quite a few different types and dates (something like 45 pages worth on one link with 10 coins per page)not all US coins and most of the ones I saw looked awful good as far as design, so if they ever get the planchets down this is going to be a major problem http://www.bubbleshare.com/users/profile/305237http://www.bubbleshare.com/users/profile/305281 |

well, not in China. There is no law against making US coins in China. The problem comes in when they are shipped to the US, then it becomes illegal if they arent stamped "Replica" or "Copy" I think, but I guess that really doesn't matter and it doesn't scare him because all of these are available without that stamp. The only ones that have the stamp is the ones he has pictures of on ebay so they won't cancel his listings |

Plus China doesn't really do extradition with the US, so he is basically free to break all of our laws he wants without penalty.

It seems both buyers and sellers would be doing something wrong by buying and selling replicas without the replica stamp, which is certainly not (wink, wink) what's happening here (wink, wink) . The real problem is ebay's refusal to stop winking along. |

REPLICA won't do it, the law specifies that they must be stamped COPY. And it wouldn't scare him because he is exporting from a country where it is legal. the person breaking the law is the guy here in the US that is receiving them He is doing the importing and it is the importation of unmarked copies that is illegal. The guy in China has nothing to fear because he is doing nothing illegal. |

We need to start counterfitting some large chinese currency and start shipping it to China. Turnabout is fairplay right? See how long it takes until the Chinese start to get ticked.

It's pretty obvious this will be a huge issue, and we're just seeing the leading edge as of now. Interesting how they're working on varieties like that 1808/7. Of course, the planchet surfaces are all wrong for starters. I can only guess these will eventually worm their way into the US without any "COPY" stamp, and create a lot of problems.  |

The TPGs should be the main ones to benefit from this, since, as the forgeries get better, it will take a professional to detect them ... except they are also making counterfeit slabs of higher and higher quality.
Numismatics has weathered the current economic storm pretty well, but this could get really ugly. How much will collectors be willing to pay if all they really know is that the coin they are buying is "probably" authentic?

Oh, don't worry the good old U.S.A is putting it to China 24/7. The place is a environmental health disaster due to our industrial consumption needs.

So when they get the planchets the correct composition it will definately fool allot of people |
