I was going through some of my collection trying to determine the value of some of the coins when I noticed one of my Roosevelt dimes. On the back of the dime is a raised area (almost like a ringworm effect). Has anyone else seen or where can I check to see if it is an error in printing?
Rest in Peace

Hi Ihappie2, welcome to the forum! It is really hard to tell the cause of something like this without a photo of the coin. Could you possibly take a photo of what you are describing and post it? By the way, coins are struck and not printed. To a newer coin collector correct terms might not seem very important but as you get deeper into collecting you will understand the necessity of it. But back to your question, if you could post a picture there are a lot of experienced collectors here who will be happy to help.

You must mean 1946 or 47? No Roosevelt dimes in 1941.

Need pictures but it sounds like it was soldered to something. (The something made contact with the coin in the center ad the solder formed a ring around it bonding them together. Later the dime broke away leaving the ring of solder on the back.)

lol I said I am not good at this. I tried to take a picture but it comes out a white speck! Also it is a 1981 P instead of 1941. I didn't have it in front of me when I posted that. A coin collector had it. He said it is an error in the striking (thank you for setting me straight on the lingo).

Anyway, if someone can tell me how to take a close up of this coin so you can actually see it I will be happy to post the picture. The coin collector had never seen one like this.
