Was just going through loose coins of minor value... grouping them for photos to try and sell them.

But when I went to take a reverse shot of multiple low grade Buffalo nickels, I thought - wow that looks like its missing a leg... too bad its not 37' must be something else.

But when I flipped for the obverse shot... it was a 37'

Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Please post a close-in image of the leg area. Sometimes, the leg is deliberately 'ground-off' by enterprising souls.

Judging by the following photos, I would have to say 'altered' going by the rear leg strength.

Also on the Obverse, the back of the neck is smooth. On a
genuine 3 leg, it is rough.

Looks altered to me, especially with way too much shine for the grade.

Im still learning a lot, but I think the different tone someone mentioned is because I used a flash for the obverse -- was having a hard time getting the leg distinction to show up in photos otherwise.

Im so bad at taking photos...Here are some more to show the coins overall look. BTW, not that it matters, but I found this in a bag of freebies I had been given over the years.

Also the mintmark locations are not a match.

Just check all of PCGS examples and all the mintmark locations are the same. (I was wondering if it was only on one die, or more. All had the same locations. The altered example above's Mintmark is in a slight different location. (the altered one is a bit too far north)
