Looks like it was struck through the obverse and lower rim on the reverse maybe

Not convinced it is a strike trough I am seeing damage..after strike..

I'm with you @silverworf, especially since these two areas are directly opposite each other. Maybe the flattening on the rev rim occurred as something pressed on the obv rim and Abe's head?

I agree. the coin was damaged after the strike. Not a mint error. Note on the reverse the affected area at 6:30. If it were a mint error, that area would be normal. It is affected. Its a good thing it is a common coin. Not something that happened on a variety coin.
