Congrats again on completing the set! Keep us posted on the results. I was a bit on the fence between XF45 and AU. I'm sticking with XF, but won't be surprised with it coming back AU. There's certainly worse examples that have pulled AU.

A few posts upthread, I posted the obverse of a PCGS Photograde comparison coin. This is the reverse of that same Photograde coin for grading comparison. Compare both coins. Which is better? IMHO, @farrider11's obverse is clearly a higher grade than the PCGS obverse. The wheat grains, top cotton leaf, cotton blossoms, and two lower cotton leaves are much sharper and have significantly less wear. The cap fold is at least comparable. The eyelid, lips, hair above the forehead, hair above the ear, and large bear claw are distinctly better. @farrider11's reverse has sharper detail on the head, neck, wing tips, laurel wreath, olive leaves, and bow than the PCGS grading comparison coin. The talons, legs, inner feathers, and breast are comparable. Here's the kicker. The PCGS comparison coin that I posted isn't an EF-45. It's the PCGS AU-50.

If they didnt take the time to put in the holder correctly, aspecially with the media blitz they did for RFID, I got to think they didnt look the coin over too well either, who knows, see what happens.
I really apreciaye all the comments and thoughts.
fortcollins went above and beyond. thanks !!!!!

IMO this is just from shifting in the slab in transit. They're certainly far from saints, but I doubt PCGS would let this out the door this way. Also look at the position of the coin in the holder in your first pics, and then again in the in hand pics. Looks like it shifted even further from the seller to you. Not trying to be being pedantic..

Great set! Love the 1881-S MS65 PL. If I ever would do a Morgan dollar Type Set, I would want every coin to be proof like.

Well to wrap this up, I have been staring at this coin on and off all day. I took a magnifying glass to it, and I think it makes AU50, going back to PCGS Monday morning. At the very least they can fix the slab.

I included this with the submission
Hello, This is a freshly slabbed coin with RFID, Gold Shield and True View. The slab must be defective as the coin is rolling around in there like a Ferris wheel.
I am also asking for a reconsider on the grade from XF-45 to AU-50.
According to your photo grade pictures, it would also appear to merit AU-50.
My general thought is that if it was slabbed poorly, maybe it was graded poorly.
If you do not agree, At the very least, I ask you repair the slab.

If it is the same grade, they should really reslab it for free because of the slippery internal gripper. Good luck with getting an AU50 !

It was, but If I'm paying for it, I sent it in with the package, at least they can read it for what I'm getting charged They recently had a change in managment, as evidenced by them putting it in the system a week earlier then they usualy do for a standard submission

We had a few folks that said it was fairly graded, and a Bunch that said it should be an AU 50. I took a shot, maybe they will fix the slab in any case.
I think it will upgrade, but wont be dissapointed if it doesn't.Its on the border line.
