. That is damage caused after it left the mint,not a mint error.

Your "incomplete date" appears to be a 1982 cent, and I agree with all of the above, this is post mint damage, not a mint error, sorry.

To prove that it is a 1982-D copper large date cent. Look at other devices side by side with the small date examples:
1982-Error-Lincoln-Cent-Incomplete-Date
Note the differences in sizes of devices between the two years?
Note also the space from the bust to the date/Liberty/We on the two side by side. The large dates are made from an aging swollen master die. The recreation of a new master hub put the locations back to their normal position. Thus your coin is a normal large date Denver cent. Not the 1982-D small date copper cent.
