Thought this was a 57-D RPM but don't find it listed anywhere so I am thinking it is just a well placed die chip.

Not an RPM. if incuse corrosion, if not die chip.

Looks more like a coin gouge. Looks like the metal was pushed west. It doesn't look like a mintmark punch strike on the die.

Die chip, corrosion, gouge—or maybe a combination of these. I agree not a RPM though.
