I occasionally use different sources online. I like the PCGS website. I would love to know what some of the more seasoned coin collectors use for pricing when buying. Maybe there is a resource I am missing.

Thanks

Thanks, I had Numismedia bookmarked already. The interesting thing is the huge disparity in allot of cases between book value and asking price. Often asking is 30% higher than book for coins. I see the same coins online year after year that havent been bought by anybody. Interesting.

Numismedia and PCGS it is!

Cheers

@Kanga If you are putting in an offer on a Buy it Now or maybe from a dealer do you quote the latest auction results?

I use Numismedia, NGC, PCGS, and then Heritage & GC for the most recently sold. Then compare the coins to see if there's anything obvious to justify any wild difference in price. You're in Canada so I assume you're aware of coinsandcanada and jandm for Canadian coins, although their pricing seems way off most of the time. I've also seen the same coins sit - I once watched a Canada 1948 $1 Details sit on ebay for like three years. Some people just aren't interested in selling I guess.

Thanks for the info guys! I usually only checked two sites but I will start looking at some of the others mentioned.

@kbbpll. Yes I agree I think allot of these over priced coins vs actual market price are collectors who dont really want to sell. I noticed here in Toronto with home prices going up there is a very similar pattern. People will list there homes for 25% higher than market value and they really have no intention of selling but if it does sell then its a win win situation unfortunately it does seem like such a waste for the genuine buyers. Ive noticed this also at sports card shows.

Thanks again!
