I dont have any experience in non modern coins, I would like to know what is a good guide or reference to know the value of a coin ( crusaders, roman ...

@chronos, it sounds like you are looking for a physical book as opposed to a website like numista.com or acsearch.info. For world coins minted from 1600 to the present (and 1500 to the present for Germany) you could pick up a copy of Krause, although the market may move quickly enough that anything in print will be out of date by the time it arrives in your mailbox. Moving further back in time will require you to pick a book that targets that particular series. I strongly recommend that you check out @echizento's sticky thread on books and websites here:

After reading through that thread, please ask if you need help in a specific area of numismatics and we will try to help. With that said, the market for some specialized coins can be thin enough that it is nearly impossible to find comps.
