In some corners of the world, it's customary to give a coin or two (or other trinket) to a child in recognition of the loss of a baby tooth. There are a number of subtle variations, but generally it involves placing the tooth under a pillow at night, and the next morning a coin or two is found, under said pillow.

Has anyone found and/or used interesting/exotic coins in the tooth fairy exchange? Common pocket change, Morgan dollars, road rash quarters, slabbed proofs, other?

I have a gold crown that fell off one of my teeth.
Could I give that as a present from the Tooth Fairy?

The tooth fairy at our house switched over to currency in the form of Washingtons and later Lincoln. I think when I was a kid it started at a dime and eventually moved up to a quarter.

I just got regular coins from the Tooth Fairy when I was a kid, but The Royal Mint is now getting in on the act!

I used to give my kids 1oz silver bullion coins from around the world. I'd tell them that the tooth fairy must have just come from that particular country.
