I got the idea for this thread form a different website.

People love seeing notes that are high grades.

But what about the notes from the other end of the spectrum.

The job of a note is to circulate.

So lets see the ones that did that.

Current design or big headed non colored or old style does not matter.

Graded or raw does not matter.

Heh, my US note album is in the bank, including a 1969 $1 FRN I got out of circulation, in Ireland (!) - one of my favourite notes because of how I got it! I will scan and post. . .

These are tired horses but I'm sure there are notes that have been worked more than these.

I've always liked to imagine that it's possible Ernest Hemingway might have used this note while paying for a round at Sloppy Joe's Bar on Duval Street in Key West.

Those are some hard life notes!

ckrakowski, do you mind if I move this to the World paper forum to open it up or do you want to restrict to US only? (Sorry, NumisRob).

!
I once paid Irish notes in similar condition into the bank! I got some which were eaten away by mould, ink rubbing away from the face. fortunately not rarities.

Still, if a note is rare enough one might keep it even in such a grade.

Orac, same for me. I keep the oldest $1 I've found in circulation for each Federal Reserve District, hence the Granahan-Fowler F Atlanta district note. The Granahan-Fowler H St. Louis note is the oldest star I've found for that district. I kept the Ba˝uelos-Schultz E Richmond note due to its slightly out of place district overprint.

Of the $2s, I liked the serial number of that C Philadelphia note. The J Kansas City note was the first pre-COPE printing I had for that district, and I've since found a much nicer example, so this taped example will be spent.

I imagine every saved workhorse note has a story as to why it was not spent.

Hey Jbuck if the world paper section allows us currency go ahead.

If not maybe you could move it to the Post Your section.

Here is one of my better lowball notes, a series 1953 red seal 2 dollar bill that has been well spent...
