Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Somewhat of a coin newbie here. I have an 1842 Barber coin missing the "One Dime" stamp completely from the back of the coin. At first glance I thought it was altered post mint looking at the diveting on the coin but now I'm just not sure. I Welcome any feedback from the SMEs in this forum. Best Regards!

PMD. It is a decent job, and the toning hides the displaced metal and toolmarks. But you can still see the deep scratches in the area.

This is actually pretty cool!

Agree that it has been intentionally removed.
What you have now is a damaged coin.

Seems like maybe they were trying to make a love token or something. I see a crude outline of a star.

Welcome to CCF. The scratches definitely make me think post mint damage.
