I don't know a ton about coins, but I understand that there are a lot of counterfeits out there. Is this one of them?

Thanks!

Yes, it is one of the many counterfeit coins that has flooded the coin market. Most of these counterfeit coins have their origins in China.

The font is one thing wrong on the coin.

Always remember: "if it's too good to be true, it probably is!"

This is a bad fake. Take a look at genuine examples online, and compare fonts, date, and design elements. It would be a very cool error, having the coin flipped over in the striking process causing the obverse to be struck over the reverse.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Glad to know, it was my suspicion, but I was trying to find some confirmation. Thanks again!

As an amusement it's kind of interesting. Judging from the staple size it appears to be quite small.

Good observation! Or maybe these are giant staples...

There is one off center 1877 Indian Head that has been found. It happens to be low grade and badly damaged.
