1834 Capped Bust Half Dime - NGC And I Disagree. Your Thoughts?

I'm talking duck & cover, Buddy Holly 45s and Joseph-McCarthy-on-the-Senate-floor-in-black-and-white old. So I'm trying to determine whether it is my senescence that's responsible for my hugely variant grading of this pretty half dime, or whether -- just perhaps -- NGC left its back door open, allowing some pot-smoking, glue-huffing, too-much-LSD-back-in-1967 homeless guy to walk in, grade the coin, steal all the donuts from the break room, pee in the stairwell, and walk out. fortcollins Pillar of the Community United States 2711 Posts	Posted 11/26/2021 6:18 pm Nice strike, even for 1834, which is generally well struck. The centrils are exceptionally sharp. The obverse rims and first and second rear curls reflect light circulation. The eagle's head, right shoulder, and inner right wing feathers also reflect light circulation. The light circulation cameo and cheek abrasions also suggest light circulation. The surface toning is a bit distracting. Fish scales get some leeway because of their small size and thin planchets. Overall, I'm at obverse AU-58, reverse AU-55, net AU-55. Report this Post to the Staff
