Neat article!

I've bought this coin as a probable ancient fake, though I have yet to figure out ancient fake of what exactly...



Best I can tell it's trying to imitate a 5th century semissis and/or tremissis, but I can't read the obverse legend well enough to identify it any further. The photos are a fairly close approximation of the in-hand color.

january1may - The prominent staurogram (or tau-rho, if you prefer) on the reverse of your specimen is an interesting feature, and may serve as a definitive marker or identifier.
