Has anybody ever heard of this company. Not been able to find out much about this company online. Do they grade fairly accurate, are they still in business. Saw a note graded by the company at a coin show once. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

@red, if you use the search box with RCGS as the keyword, you will see that this TPG has a speckled reputation here. This is a link to one such thread: http://goccf.com/t/131934

Added: well that was for a coin. Maybe there are two grading companies with the same name?

One of the things you buy when you purchase a slabbed note, besides the fancy holder and the professional grader's opinion is trust. Trust in their opinion and confidence that they got it right. RCGS has always been considered a second tier TPG. They were semi popular in the mid-2000s and you could spot some of their handiwork at major auction houses including Heritage. They made some mistakes and dealers and collectors lost confidence in their services. Because of this, many RCGS slabbed notes have since been reholdered by other TPGs. Similar to CGA, RCGS graded notes sell at a discount. Here's a page of RCGS graded notes that sold at Heritage in 2005 and 2006. Buy the note, not the holder. https://currency.ha.com/c/search-re...&limitTo=all
