Thanks, on the reverse rim at the bottom is that a result of an off center strike or former encapsulation?

An end-on photo would clarify the encapsulation matter. I'm not thinking this coin was encapsulated--but can't be 100% sure.
Nice coin, yes. I like toning, however, I'm not confident that the coin was toned free of deliberate human intervention. I still like it.

Nice example, but, something is not quite right to me. Has the appearance of other examples I've seen with an old chemical cleaning. They also tend to retone with similar colors, though a bit more extreme in appearance. Also, looking at sellers others item, they have a number of problematic coins. Not all photos are the same (some high quality, others low quality). These look like trueview shots. Willing to bet these are cracked out problem coins, considering almost all higher res (TV pics?) examples the seller has look problematic. Just speculation. Saw this one listed, at this price, I'd steer clear.

Yes it's pleasant on the eye for sure...
Other things that are tripping me up are the flattened tail. Die state and not circulation caused? Lastly it looks like a small strike-thru on the bison's back? Curious how this would grade out if it were slabbed. Maybe 64-65+? I have very little knowledge on grading raw specimens.

Nice looking coin, what I noticed is the verdigris spots started to form on the reverse between I & T of United, above the V in Five, and between T & S in Cents, this will need additional conservation by NGC or PCGS. |

Kinda nice crack on the bison's head and down to his eye. Whoops - didn't see the mention of the crack on the initial post.

Struck well for a 1914-D. Complete top feather. Medium die state both sides. Toning is OK (for me).
A lot of higher grade 14-D Buffs have a smooth, glossy strike that is kinda silky looking.

Anyone hazard to guess what this would grade out to be? I was looking at PCGS examples yesterday and saw something similar at MS63 but also MS66, to my untrained eye. |
