Hey everyone, I'm thinking of buying this coin. It is in a Details slab but it doesn't really look cleaned to me and has a great eye appeal. I'll be cracking it out anyway to put in my type set. What would be a good price to pay for this coin?

That's a seriously pleasing example to have been called cleaned. I'm not seeing it, maybe there are hairlines we can't see? Either way if it's for details money then I'd buy it. It's a great looking example IMO.

Good eye appeal and natural toning. Probably an old cleaning, something that I would not pay full price for because it may not look good in hand (if you are purchasing from only these photos). It is an O-111, R-2 so no premium based on rarity. I can't give an exact good price to pay, it also depends how you feel about the coin.

I agree with the grade if the cleaning is visible in person. XF-40 details, but a possible net straight VF-35.

Very attractive piece. If it was cleaned in the past, it certainly looks market acceptable now. Great candidate for a type set.

Only areas I can make out that look a bit heavier than "hairline" wiping scratches are circled. Not sure how prominent ("harsh") these areas will be in hand. Some light hairlines across the bust . Certainly not fresh, nicely toned over. Can't make out anything on the reverse that screams harshly cleaned. Hope it's a case of picky grading rather than lighting angles hiding something. Definitely an attractive coin regardless.

Alrighty, got the coin for a hair over $200. Not bad IMO for a coin with great eye appeal. Lets hope it looks as good in person!

I think those splotches are the result of going in and out of 2x2's or flips over the years. Personally, I'd go somewhere in the $225-$250. A solid coin for an album!
