Wondering what's going on with the RAM's "donation dollar" project? I thought I would post this 2021 Donation Dollar I noodled as evidence they are out there. As you can see they are green just like the 2020 version (which had a mintage of 12.5 million). Maybe the 2021 mintage will be the same, bringing the total to the 25 million the RAM said they were going to mint (1 for every Australian). So much for each year being a different colour. Maybe the RAM is actually showing some ethics and making them less appealing to collectors and hoarders so that plenty will remain in circulation to serve their intended purpose.

Hmm, I wonder if I've thrown a bunch out. I've come across quite a few over the past few months but tossed them in the reject pile without checking the date.

So it looks like they've scrapped their original plan to have different coloured dots across different years. Which is probably wise, if the goal is to have the coins get used in donations, rather than hoarded up by collectors.

You will have to keep an eye out Steve as I spoke to a guy from Perth yesterday and he said he has seen a couple of them now.

Someone on another coin forum asked the RAM about the subject. He got a response fairly quickly. Yes, the RAM minted 12.5 million 2021-dated DD according to the answer he got. Nice find, they must have been in storage for a while. And yeah I thought it was meant to be a different colour - I guess not.
