PLEASE HELP!!! I just paid $660 on ebay for this 1803 Draped Bust Silver Dollar (Small 3). It appears to be genuine silver, is not magnetic etc, however the weight is 27.02g / 27.03g but should weigh no more than 27g! Is this coin fake? PLEASE HELP!!!!#128556; THANK YOU !!!!!🙏; Edited by stuwalker 07/23/2022 12:28 pm

Don't know enough about this series to give an accurate comment so I'll let the pros answer, though is does look scarily like this one because of the odd rim issue under the bust.

Can you show us a large image of the obverse, like you have the reverse? to the CCF!

at first glance I thought it was fake, and with as much wear as it has it should Not be overweight. Also the reverse appears "grainy" & all around has the fake dark rim toning. But a nice large photo of the front of the coin would be helpful. I would return it if possible.
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

Counterfeit coin. The date numerals are evenly rounded, which is incorrect. For example, the middle of the 8 should taper to a thin crossbar. This coin has no change, and the 8 is the same thickness all around.
Can you post a picture of the edge?

If the coin is genuine, it would have to be a B5. The B5 has the raised small 3 in the date. Need a close up photo of the obverse T in liberty, and close up photo of the arrows on the reverse. On the T in liberty the upper right serif is longer than left. There should be 13 arrows and one without a stem.

Unfortunately this is a counterfeit. I would get this returned ASAP. Best of luck!

Hello all, Thank you to all the experts for your keen advice. I have uploaded the obverse as requested. It appears the consensus so far is the coin is fake, which would explain the overweight. I am shocked as the seller put "Genuine —NOT A COPY" in the item title. I will have to apply for a refund. Luckily I videoed myself opening the package and weighing the coin straight away - advise I give to you all in return. Thank you

Here is a comparison of the date as only one obverse used for the raised 3. Get your money back on the fake as the date is off. NGC OP
