Does anyone know what type of error this would be if it is one. It's a brand new coin yet, it looks as though it's years old.

to the CCF!

It looks like the coin may have been in a fire then cleaned. I'm not 100% sure, so let's see what the other members think.

Some kind of environmental damage, not an error.

Not an error. There is no way that could happen during the minting of the coin.
That leaves the alternative that it is damage of some sort.
Worth 25 cents.

Just a spender. Burn a car and wash it off, doesn't make the new car a factory error? Just a damaged coin.
