My Dad asked me to make a list of what I was missing from my Lincoln album 1909 -1973.......and I was surprised at the ones he found for me !.....He beat me to an add in the paper months ago. He got a thousand Wheaties for $50.00. I got.... 1911 1912 1913 1913 D 1915 1917 S 1920 D 1921 1924 1925 S 1927 S 1932 1938 S 1939 D 1954 None are in bad condition......all G-4 to maybe AU-50 or so generally !.....(all easy to read dates and mint marks!) That was GREAT !........FILLED A LOT OF HOLES FOR ME !The last time "I" bought a thousand Wheaties.....it was also $50.00 and I only filled ONE HOLE !.... By the way.....he had two 1909 plains in this bunch....but I didn't need them because I already have several of those !.....so he wouldn't give them to me ..... ...(or I should say ....I didn't ask and he didn't offer).....see......he's building a "folder" for my nephew and though he let me have what I'm missing......that was it. Anywhooo.......I'm now only missing 30 some odd Cents to be complete !.....and plenty of those aren't rare or expensive !(and I'll never have the S VDB....or a couple others, but that's fine) Man !....this is the best accomplishment/gift I've gotten in a long long long time really.......nothing of any great value of course.....but they're not easy to get around here ! So.....let the congrats and dancing icons begin !.... Edited by eaglefoot 02/19/2009 3:49 pm

It felt SO GREAT to fill those holes........I'm tellin' ya ! Every so often I pursue the " thousand Wheaties for $50.00" deal....and early on, it REALLY was filling my album ! And I seem to get a lot of the hard to get "early dates"....and I now have a lot in duplicate and triplicate....(some by the handfull !) I have the best luck in truly "unsearched Wheaties" at Estate auctions where they have a decent amount of coins as a small part of the auction.....It's the ONLY place "I" know where you can get truly unsearched Wheaties. If they would search them, they'd be put into a 2x2 or something and sell that too.......but they don't....so....it's a real adult Easter Egg Hunt when ya get home to look through them. But like I said, the last time "I" bought a thousand, I ONLY FILLED ONE HOLE ! And so my Dads batch filled 15 HOLES FOR ME ! Yes.... I'm ecstatic !...

Oh !......By the way.......the ones my dad brought in for us to look through to see if there were any I needed ?........Well......he just gave them to me ! So now I have a lot more of those "early dates" that I didn't even need.....I might have to start a coin tube of 1909 Plains, a coin tube of 1910 S's, of 1912 S's, of 1913 D's, of 1915 D's, etc. etc. etc.....and so on and so forth !...... What a massive dose of adrenaline to reinvigorate my Wheaties Fever ! WHOOOOAHHHHH ! ........

Thats awsome that you filled some holes. 1000 wheats for $50 is a little high priced though. Going rate for wheats seems to be about 4 cents each.
What dates are you still missing to fill your holes?

eaglefoot... don't know if you have any interest in working out a trade, but I need a 1910 S and a 1912 S. Would you be willing to trade if I could fill a few of your empty spots?

Actually a nickel each is a really good price for the coins Eaglefoot is getting. Many of the early mintmarked teens now sell for $2-$10 in lower circ grades.

Yeah if he is getting all teen and twenties out of the 1000 wheats. If he is getting mainly 40's and 50's than thats a little high for them

I'm not certain if I have "duplicates" of those two you mentioned or not......I may only have the ones in my album.....lemme check !....I named off those early dates just speaking "generally" of the semi-semi-keys. Meaning I'm getting more and more "early dates" as time goes by.....didn't mean to mislead you to think that I had those specifically in such an amount as to put into coin tubes..... .......but I might...I'll see what I've got. Quote: Yeah if he is getting all teen and twenties out of the 1000 wheats. If he is getting mainly 40's and 50's than thats a little high for them Certainly not "all"....but the way I see it, if I get a good mix of "early dates" in there, and it's truly unsearched......then it's easily worth .05 cents apiece IMHO..... Also.....my album goes to 1973....AND I'm STILL MISSING SOME IN THE '60's and '70's..... .....as well as several in the '20's and still need more for "teens"....(I believe I counted 39 total missing holes. Some are not hard to find or rare.....I just don't have em' yet) I may post another topic offering the trade deal you asked about. And I'll list the ones I need....... and the ones I have in "two or more amounts" for trade.

eagle.. thanks for the answer! I only mentioned needing 1910S and 1912S because you mentioned those.
I actually need 10,11,12,13,14,15,17, and 18 (all S mint). =[
BUT, if you have any of those you'd like to trade.. send me a PM with what you need and maaaybe we can figure something out if I have anything you need!
and for what it's worth.. I agree that they're worth .05 cents each in that scenario!
