on my 1985 D nickel is there doubling in the letters and if so what kind plus what is the rippling around the rim of the coin is there anything special about either one of them

looks like Die Deterioration, quite common on nickels of that era

No doubling, just Die Deterioration and circulation wear.

That looks like Machine Doubling on the last two letters of PLURIBUS, but for sure this coin was also struck with a tired die.
