I have the same nickel. So mean to tell me someone just sanded a bunch of nickels. I think it's a error ad I'll keep mine till they say it is a error. I'm new to this only been doing it a year but I watched my dad do it for years. His sister got the collection and it had some good pieces in it. So I decided to start when I hit 40

JOliver First to the CCF We see a lot of these coins here. In fact, I don't know but I think this is one of the top 3 questions we get here. New members can't believe that this is a sanded coin, but it is. People do a lot of things to coins. In order to be an error it has to happen at the mint. Stick around a while and use the search tab here. There is a lot of information to learn here.

Agree--not a minting error. Unfortunately, its post-strike damage--likely done deliberately. As noted above, we see similar damage on a variety of coins posted to the forum.

Coin collecting is a very personal thing. If you like the coin, keep it.
