Is this coin inside a closed up 2x2? if so, it may take better pictures not inside one. Is it an S 1909 - No I do not think so. BUT, great find in the wild.

There is a lot of reflective light, is it in a holder? Try taking a black & white photo. Milestone coming up, contest time ? John1

Even if an S used to be there, it's so damaged that there is no value. A damaged 1909 Wheat cent is worth 5 cents or so.

I don't have one so worth filling the hole for my s space till I can get one in better condition! I think it's an altered s mint maker just heavily worn. Take a look at what an altered s looks like in next picture.

I can kind of see what you're seeing, OP, but I'd just call this one a 1909 (P) myself.

There is no mint mark on this coin. Any S you see is just wishful thinking (and we'd all like to find a 1909-S, wouldn't we?)
