I was hunting thru some rolls and found this half with something on the reverse. Not sure if it is a grease strike or some other foreign object. Could be a die issue? I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like something added to the coin. It should be over weight. I'm guessing soldier on on the coin. It wasn't struck that way. If it had been, then the design would be on top and not covered over that area. (Image two by the finger tips, you can see where it is starting to peel off there a tiny bit.

I agree something is "on" the coin. It is not an error. Might be solder or some kind of dried paste?

Agree, appears there's dried gunk/stuff on the reverse. Suggest giving the coin a long, long soak in acetone. Yes, could be solder, but going with acetone might eliminate some of the possibilities.

Looks like it may have spent some time in a belt buckle.
