I have a 1962 Lincoln Penny that has a very shiney, mirror-like, silver/gold finish. The colour you see in the photos is exactly as it appears. It came this way from the mint. I personally removed it from the cellophane package. Is this just an example of unusual toning, or possibly incorrect metal used? Unfortunately there is a little corrosion visible around the date. Value?

Likely plated and packaged after it left the Mint.

I think it was heavily polished cent then re-packaged in cello - you can still see some of the polishing compound in between the letters.

Come to think of it, the 2 in 1962 looks suspect--given the photo posted. Compare with published PCGS photos. Could be an issue with the lighting, however.

Looks like just a really bad, after mint, plating job. The copper is reacting with whatever it is or just doing what copper does. It turns green, given the right circumstances.

Here is the item in it's mint packaging before I removed it. I set it next to another mint set to compare the difference in penny colours.

A mint package? That blows my thought about it being polished out of the water. But I have a new one... Could a proof coin have made its way into a uncirculated mint package? And if so, I think it should have been left inside the package for a mint packaging error.

Don't mean to offend but the packaging means nothing. They are repackaged too, just like plating after the mint. I'll let the more learned folks speak to this but the rims look rough and not correct for a business or proof coin. Thanks for the pics though.
