I just found this tonight in a customer roll. This is the second one I've ever found, primarily because I live in the States. I assume these are more common in Canada. What I'm needing some help on is deciding if there's environmental damage, or if it's cleaned, or if it's just natural aging. Also, I've seen circulated ones go for around $2 on eBay. Is this worth putting into a $0.01 2x2 flip plus staples?

Cheers!

Looks like Enviromental toning and not worth a 2x2.

Here in Canada my LCS sells them for 5 cents in his 1 cent "junk bin".

Nice find. I'd give it a long soak in acetone, then move it into a 2x2. If you like it, keep it.

Fun find.

Keep if you like it because finding another in the wild is might take a while.

Oh well, I already put this in a 2x2 last night, before I saw the replies just now. I do have another one that's better looking, which is also in a flip. I'm not a seasoned collector yet, so I tend to put what I thought was "rare" in flips. I have circulated 30s and 20s Wheat cents in flips, too, as well as a few silver (Roosevelt) dimes.

Cheers!

No harm at all if those coins appeal to you! Your collection is allowed to evolve and develop over time.

That is a 1967 "Rock Dove" cent for Canada's centennial, they were saved by many and MS examples are easy to find but if it's only the second one you've found keep it. The cent has been withdrawn for over a decade now in Canada.

When it comes to the cent, Canada is smart. America, not so much.

Interestingly enough, I found 2 more of these in the last few days from CRH. One of them is definitely in better RD shape; the other one is in decent BN shape. Not sure why these are popping up all of a sudden, after almost 100,000 (US) pennies searched.

Cheers!
