is there supposed to be two different S mint marks on the 1952 S cent

There were two different punches used in 1952,
it appears you have one of each style.
Not unusual with hand punched dies.

Agree. In the case of 1944, there are 3 distinct styles of the S mintmark.

why did they have so many different styles of networks for the same year of coin
