So this weekend, I bought a coin collection at an estate sale! Lot's of stuff to go through.

But one interesting item: A roll of uncirculated or nearly uncirculated 1947 D Wheat Pennies.

At first glance, most of these have a shot at MS65.I had a chance to really examine some PCGS graded pennies to compare to in addition to the grading guides. I have not looked through them for errors yet, but I have put a couple of the nicest ones under the microscope and ... conservatively, I really think at least a few of them have a chance at MS67+

What is the best thing to do next? Send a select few off to be graded? Try to sell as a lot?

I don't really intend to collect "bulk" coins so would prefer to sell most of them and use to buy other coins.

I can post pics if needed, but am really just looking for general advice.

Best to post a few good photos here so we can get an idea on grade. In case you were unaware, here is a link to grading https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/

Absolutely take the best 2 pics (obverse & reverse) of just 1 coin (1 coin per thread/post) & people here on the CCF give their honest opinion of what they think your coin might grade. Then, (though it might take some time & investigative work on your part), familiarize yourself w/ possible errors/varieties, doubled dies, RPM's, etc., which can be found on ..... Varietyvista, or doubleddie.com, see if you can find a match.

Per request, I am attempting to upload to the pics per forum rules.

I am not certain that this is even THE best coin in the group. It's one of the better ones, though the others aren't far off.

In hindsight, this is actually not the best coin in the group. I can see that now due to some bag marks, but until I have time to really look through these, I don't want to spam the board with pics.

Not sure if it's possible to reply to a specific post, but to the one above me, once I get some feedback from the community on what I posted, I will post the 5 or so best coins if permissible.

I think you would have to get those up to an MS67 to make them cost effective for you to grade them. I may be wrong. If I am, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I'm thinking these were in someone's collection for a very long time!

Lovely sample of what you have!

Anyone have any opinions on the grade of this one?

There are 9 either very slightly better/worse.

Doc, that is a gorgeous cent! Mid to upper MS for sure. And if this isn't the best 9, WOW!

I thought you had to have 200 posts to sell on this forum?

If they do go up for sale save one for me.

Knockout coin. but you'd have to get MS-67RD to make this pay.
