PCGS - The 1922 Peace dollar from the Philadelphia Mint by far saw the single-largest single-issue mintage for the series, at 51,737,000. Yet, it's an extremely difficult coin to locate in grades of MS65 or higher. Why? Thank the pangs of contact marks and woes of characteristically weak strikes. The Peace dollar, designed by Anthony de Francisci in 1921, features a portrait of a young Miss Liberty on the obverse and an eagle on a rock on the reverse.

The coin also has many broad areas of open field, which is particularly the case on the obverse canvas. This allows little room for contact marks and other imperfections to hide. Marry that with the fact that many of these coins were jostled around during transit in bags of 1,000, and you have the perfect recipe for creating a conditional rarity. The example pictured here is graded PCGS MS67 — one of the relatively few 1922 Philly Peace dollars to earn such a grade.

Beautiful Peace dollar! MS67 seems a bit high to me though.
