Tough to tell authenticity from those pictures. Almost looks like it was worn as a jewelry piece for a jillion years. Best bet is to non-destructively verify the gold content, weight and dimensions as a first step. Then send it off to ANACS for a reasonably priced "quick and dirty" authentication and grading session. I'm guessing it could come back "Good Details Damaged - Ex-Jewelry " or something similar. to the Community!

To CCF! What's the weight of your coin? Also, remove the coin from the holder to get better photos.

In focus images would be more useful than these images. Try taking it out of the plastic holder so your camera can focus on the coin and not the c over.

It's about 6% underweight, but that might be okay due to the heavy wear. The date looks too large and the digits too thick, but that might also be because of wear. Probably best to first get it tested for gold content.

Date and mintmark look right and weight sounds right. I had an 1846-C in similar condition. I vote authentic and worth an ANACS holder though it is probably details grade. I would carry it in my pocket.
