Here's a rare one. 2013 Retained Cud. Displacement seen at the ends of the die break shift in the rim of the die. Enjoy Edited by gorham_collector 03/23/2023 11:13 pm

It's a crack in the die so the die break is part of the coin. Unlike a defective copper layer which then yes if you'd like to peel it off one could lol. I wouldn't.

There's no plating fail at the rim at all. This is die break/retained Cud. This has everything to do with the die itself, it has nothing to do with the Planchet or copper plating.

Goth, I know it is a Retained Cud. Me I know you collect those and like, me not. But how me I 'am, I will perform all kinds of tests. I release in the wild also clips, no only DD's and etc. I keep only RPM for penny and cent denomination. This Retained Cud has an interesting form, so in my mind come testing's variants. LOL, crazy.

Quote: . Nice find,to bad about the corrosion. I agree wish the stains weren't there. And those two corrosion bump things weren't there would make for a really nice coin still as. Least the die break is on the reverse lol

Quote: . Very nice find - that is so cool looking Thanks Dearborn Hey I commented on your post of your tomlov microscope. Was wondering how shield Cent doubled dies looked under it close up ofc shiny and circ. I'm debating between the tomlov dm201 max or tomlov dm 401 pro.

Nice find. There's not as many of these as there were in the 50s and 60s.
