Over the years I've picked up many Canadian, circulated coins. I just placed them in 2x2's, labeled them and occasionally take a look at them. Many of them are quite old. Unlike my other collections, I'm not sure where to start with my CDN's. Do I start looking at dates and then doing some research or select by types? Are there good on-line references so that I don't have to just do a google search per coin. Need a bit of guidance here. Thanks all!
I don't know why I'm having trouble deciding where to start...I've collected for decades...go figure.
(I wasn't sure where to place this post. Mods - move to a more appropriate heading/topic if need be.) Thanks!

Start with coinsandcanada.com. Quite a good reference.

I also find the J&M Coin website useful. Their tables show mintages, thumbnails of the major varieties, and you can toggle the value guide between USD and CAD (I think it must hook up to the current exchange rate). I would research by denomination and monarch, then see which dates and/or varieties have value.

Show us some pictures of both sides of some of your older coins. There are many varieties on some of them, especially Vickie's, that are worth money.

You folks really are the best but, then again I've known that since 2006! I don't remember ever asking any questions about my Canadians and am very anxious to check out the sites mentioned! I'm sure that I have a couple of "Vickies" of some denomination. I'll have to check! I'll try to post some pics after I take a look at what I have. Truly, I've never paid much attention. I just thought they were cool!

I'll keep looking. I did find an 1887 Jubilee Gr. Brit Victoria. Not in bad shape either. Onward with GB and ofcourse Canadians.

I'm not the best coin photographer but, I tried. Here's the 1859 Victoria One Cent. The lighting is camera glare. It blows up and shows good details in Irfanview. Condition? Possible Grade?

Nice looking coin. I would grade it VF. If you would like to have some fun and learn a lot about 1859 Narrow 9 Canadian cents, go to Dr. Haxby's catalog of the 1859 N9's and see if you can identify the actual die pair of your coin. https://www.vickycents.com/

Thanks Phil! I did look for the varieties of 9's on vickycents.com. I'm still a bit confused. I will re-visit the site. Is that a skinny 9 or am I just doing some wishful thinking? See...confused.
I was thinking F and not VF! There are no big dings on the rim and the coin itself is pretty clear of scratches, etc.
