obviously it ain't a transitional copper (full on copper) cent since the slab states it is "copper PLATED steel".
I think I'll go home and plate up a bunch of my steelies with copper and send them into SSGC - flood the market if you will.

It cost that fool at least $55 to get that junk slabbed.

$55.00 grading fee*
$10.00 handling fee
$25.00 estimated return shipping
$90.00 total for coins valued less than $2,000.

*Add $15.00 for coins valued between $2,000 and $10,000 There's no pricing info for coins valued over $10K.

Looks like this is likely a one man show based on the website.

Perhaps this discovery should be a featured article in Coin World, or similar publication. Finder should be a keynote speaker at the next ANACS national meeting.

It would be cheaper to buy some empty slabs then print labels from DPGS (Dearborn Prestigious Grading Service). You could make a fortune on Etsy etc.

Good catch Dearborn and Bobby. For those new, a copper plated 1943 cent is not worth much at all and its the poster here who misunderstands rather than the grading company who misled. The 1943 cent made of copper is the coin worth money but there are many more fakes than real ones out there now, some covered here https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/gen...penny-768883 and https://www.gainesvillecoins.com/bl...-penny-value

I used to wonder what it would be like to read others peoples minds...
but then I got a facebook account, and got over that REAL QUICK

Also posted elsewhere in the past, this is an ad from a coin magazine in 1962. As long as the owner sent in his own coin it was deemed legal, there were probably 1000's done by this and other companies even before all these modern attempts.

I should add that PCGS and NGC do take your money and grade reprocessed plated 1943's as well that people think are super high grade MS68s, heres one and bobby posted one before also to which I made this meme

Nothing to worry about until you see the black helicopters following you or hovering over the house.

I've got a really nice copper plated 1943 Steel cent myself. Had no idea it's worth a fortune now.
