tornandfrayed75 Valued Member United States 447 Posts	Posted 03/21/2009 11:41 pm Oh Oh that smell. Can't you smell that smell? I bought a new safe today. Got it home. Opened it up to start installing it, and it smells. It's not a revolting scent, more irritating that anything. Kind of an oily smell. My questions, Has this happened to anyone else? Could it be the TEN large desiccant packs inside? Could it be the carpeting inside? Most of all, could it hurt my coins? Thanks. The Smell That Surrounds Youuuu Report this Post to the Staff

Think how long these things sit closed up from the time it was built to the time it was bought. I let mine air out a bit with the windows open and after a day it was fine.
